A yellow severe weather alert has been issued by the Met Office for Exeter and most of Devon.
The warning of heavy rain was issued at midday and applies until early Saturday morning with a warning of potential surface and river flooding.
The rain combined with melted snow is expected to cause localised flooding across the region this weekend.
The Exeter based Met Office released the following statement:
'A combination of rain and snow melt could lead to localised minor surface water and river flooding during the second half of Friday. The public should be aware of potential disruption to travel.'
More rain is expected to hit the region on Sunday.
