Truro-based student David Dixon has been named winner of  a national online Games Design course, Adobe Generation. The 14-year-old won the 'Under 19' Collaboration award, netting himself a 12 month Adobe Creative Cloud Membership worth £500.The free, nine week Adobe Generation courses were launched to help students in the UK develop key digital skills they will need for the modern workplace. Courses covered three digital disciplines: Animation, Photo Imaging and Games Design, all of which aimed to provide a real-world perspective on different careers in the creative industry.  During the Games Design course, David was able to learn complex games design skills such as coding and also had access to industry experts who gave him an insight into the life of a games designer through their own experiences. He was also tasked with creating his own game using the skills he learnt on the course, which was then judged and critiqued by leading creatives such as Roxana Haddad. David won the 'Under 19' Collaboration award thanks to his devotion to developing games design skills, understanding and knowledge throughout the course.Commenting on the course, David said:"I'm thrilled to be named winner of the 'Under 19' Collaboration award for the Games Design course, especially considering the fantastic work which was produced by the other students taking part. Adobe Generation is a fantastic way to build key digital skills which are used in industry today. I'd recommend anyone interested in learning more about these to sign up to the next set of courses in 2013."Liz Wilkins, Senior Marketing Manager, Education at Adobe UK said: "We launched Adobe Generation to give students such as David the opportunity to learn digital skills which are being used in industry. We were incredibly impressed with the Games Design skills David built up throughout the course and our congratulations go out to him for winning the 'Under 19' Collaboration award."Adobe will be rolling out more Adobe Generation courses in 2013, more information will be posted at "http://www.adobegeneration.com/"
