Exeter's Rob Paxton will have to be at the top of his game tonight if he is to book a place in the semi-final of the World Indoor Bowls Championships.

The number ten seed made it through to the quarter-finals stage by beating Mark Royal at the Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton-on-Sea yesterday.

Paxton had looked all set for the exit in his quarter-final match as he lost the first set 10-3 and found himself 7-3 down in the second set, with just two ends remaining.

However, Paxton turned the match around by scoring a maximum count of four on the penultimate end to tie the set. Paxton then drove the jack into the ditch to win the set 8-7 and then conjured up precision draws to take the tie-break and to secure an unlikely win.

Paxton will need to be on better form tonight though as he faces Scotland's Colin Walker. He has already knocked out the number two seed and current world number one Greg Harlow in the first round.

Walker made it through to the quarter-finals by beating Australia's Ray Pearce in a tie-break.

Paxton match with Walker will get underway at 7.30pm.
