Holiday camp worker in court accused of having a syringe as a weapon on site

A holiday camp worker has appeared at court by video link accused of having a syringe as a weapon on the site. Daniel Bergin, aged 35, will face trial before a jury at Exeter Crown Court in March charged with having an article with a blade or point at the Woolacombe Sands Holiday Park. Bergin, of Coronation Terrace, Ilfracombe, was remanded in custody by Judge Graham Cottle at the preliminary hearing at Exeter Crown Court. The defendant appeared by video link from Exeter prison and was not required to enter his plea. His next appearance will be at a plea and case management hearing in January. The allegation of having the syringe relates to an incident at the holiday park, where he was working at the time.
