Reigning ladies' scything Andi Rickard is holding a wokshop for those who would like to be a cut above the rest as well as make hay while the sun shines.
She is holding a workshop on how to use the traditional tool on Tuesday, August 5 from 10 am to 3pm at Honiton Bottom Nature Reserve
Scything is making a comeback as an environmentally friendly way of managing weeds and grass, and using this method will help to encourage wild flowers to grow on the reserve.
On the day there will be the chance to have a go at cutting the hay – as well as tea, coffee and cake!
All members of the family are welcome, although children must be over seven years old and accompanied by an adult if they are going to try using a scythe.
The event is organised by East Devon District Council's community development and countryside teams. For further information contact Nathan Robinson, Nature Reserves Ranger, on 07812 418492 or Alex Gibson, Community Development Worker, on 01395 571691.
