Fire crews were called to Newton Abbot yesterday after a cow became stuck in a stream.
A Fire Engine from Paignton along with a Specialist Rescue Unit from Exeter was sent to a report of a young cow stuck in a stream near the railway line in Combe Fishacre at 16:56pm.
On arrival the crews confirmed that this was a bullock in a narrow stream wedged under a fallen tree.
Crews got to work attempting to release the bullock and requested the attendance of a Telehandler which was also sent from Exeter.
The crews managed to successfully release the bullock by using the Telehandler, strops and other animal rescue equipment. The duty of care was left in the hands of the owner.
