Firefighters from Middlemoor and Danes Castle were called to Bartholomew Street West, Exeter, at 9:39am on Sunday morning to deal with an unusual situation as a bathroom had caught on fire.
On arrival the fire crews confirmed that an extractor fan had caught fire in the bathroom. However, the fire was out by the time the firefighters arrived.
Bathroom fires are very rare. According to statistics from the Department for Communities and Local Government, only 845 of the 37,601 accidental fires on record from 2011/12 originated in a bathroom or lavatory.
