Willand Rovers manager Scott Rogers frustrated by side's lack of game time

Willand Rovers player-manager Scott Rogers admits he is frustrated with his side's recent lack of playing time. With Rogers' side having already played the lowest amount of games in Western League Premier Division this season, Saturday's game against leaders Melksham Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. That has left Rogers itching to play, especially after having other games postponed recently. "It's really frustrating at the moment," he said. "I think we're halfway through the season and we're nearly in March, so it's going to be really, really difficult now to make a good challenge for the title. "We won't be giving up but it will be really hard as there's so many games left in such a short space of time. If we can do anything, it will be one hell of an achievement." Willand are 10th in the league, yet they are only 10 points off Melksham, with four games in hand. That means they are in with a good chance of winning the title, but Rogers thinks it will be difficult to overturn their lead. He said: "It's going to be tough to catch them but it won't be through the lack of trying. "With the character I've got in the side, I know the players will be giving it everything, but playing nearly 20 league games in two and a half months is unheard of." Rovers are due to host Plymouth Argyle in the Devon St Luke's Bowl on Wednesday, with Rogers hoping to see a big crowd. "I'm hoping to get a few through the gate as we've had some decent crowds this season already. It'll be good for Willand supporters to see some top professionals," he said.
