She describes herself as 'the most hated woman in Britain' – and yet Katie Hopkins defied her critics last night to reach the final two in on Celebrity Big Brother.
The Exeter-based columnist, who had even been the bookies favourite to win the Channel 5 series, was beaten to the title on Friday by Katie Price.
The ex-Apprentice star, 39, looked stunned as she was revealed as the runner-up in the programme.
Before entering the CBB house, Ms Hopkins, had stirred up venom with her outspoken, hard-line and often insensitive views.
But she has gained support since the show began and her feud with Perez Hilton lit up the series.
The pair even enjoyed a bonding session before he was evicted on Wednesday.
Despite entering the house to boos – four weeks ago – Ms Hopkins emerged triumphant to cheers as the silver medallist on the reality TV show.
Speaking in her interview with Emma Willis last night, she said: "I think I was the most hated housemate in the history of people going into the house.
"It's a territory I know: I own it, I stand up for it. I am a tough old bird. But I am used to the boos. I wear the boots and the gear, and it allows me to be a tougher old bird."
However, when presenter Emma said that she had seemingly won over the voting public, she looked flattered and embarrassed.
"I'm not so good with that whole thing," she admitted.
"All these years of people calling me horse face, Princess Anne, white chicks... they missed the mark. If you're nice to me, it crucifies me."
But she added that "it's really kind to hear the cheers".
