Exeter's Rob Paxton has vowed to continue to fight for an elusive singles world title after exiting the World Indoor Championships at the quarter-final stage.
Paxton lost 6-12, 6-6 to Scotland's David Gourlay at Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk.
That came after world No. 2 Paxton sealed both the open pairs and mixed pairs.
Paxton has fallen three times at the semi-final stage, but he insists his dreams of lifting the trophy remain intact.
"My hopes of becoming the first man to achieve all three titles in one may have been dashed – competition is intense – but my ambition of winning the singles some day remains intact," said Paxton, 37.
"When Simon (Skelton) and I won the pairs, it was very special, because it was my first world title.
"To win a second world title the following day, when Marion (Purcell) and I won the mixed pairs was like a dream come true.
"This is very disappointing, not because I lost, but because I didn't turn up – but full credit to David, who played superbly throughout, and thoroughly deserved to win."
