A man who allegedly groped a woman in the street told worried neighbours 'don't worry, she's enjoying it' when they tried to come to her aid.
Matthew Pennyfield told one neighbour to mind her own business when she told him she was going to call the police, Exeter Crown Court was told.
He was in a bad mood after returning from an all day drinking session when he attacked a young mother outside her home in the centre of Barnstaple.
He allegedly sent her a text telling her he wanted to 'do her with all my appendages' and she fled into the street when he arrived at her home.
Neighbours saw him pinning her face down on the ground and assaulting her with what one described as 'spaghetti hands', a jury was told.
Pennyfield, aged 45, from Barnstaple, denied assault by penetration.
Miss Emily Pitts, prosecuting, said "The defendant was drunk at the time of this offence which may go some way to explain why he behaved in a disinhibited, bizarre and unpleasant way he did and carry out this assault in front of witnesses."
She said the victim fled her home after he arrived from an all day drinking session but he followed her and attacked her in a street which was overlooked by several neighbours.
The woman told police he pinned her down so she was struggling to breath and then put his hand between her legs over her leggings and assaulted her sexually.
Miss Pitts said:"She felt humiliated that this was happening with neighbours around. Some of them saw what he was doing and shouted to leave her alone.
"One neighbour called the police and saw Pennyfield straggling the woman and saw what she described as spaghetti hands reaching between the legs.
"A text later came to light which he sent before the attack which read 'so how about letting me do you properly with all my appendages'.
"We say that shows he was after sexual contact and was going to get it one way or the other."
The jury were played a video tape of the victim's police interview in which she sobbed as she told what had happened.
She said when neighbours tried to intervene and shouted at Pennyfield, he replied 'don't worry, she's enjoying it'. When they called the police he shouted 'what f***ing business is it of yours?'.
The woman told police:"He was disgusting and humiliated me and really hurt me. I could not believe he would do something like that. It was degrading and embarrassing."
