A man suffered from the effects of smoke inhalation during a fire at a house in South Molton.
Crews were called to the property at 4.06pm on Saturday.
Three appliances were mobilised one from South Molton and two from Barnstaple following a report of a property fire.
Crews confirmed that the fire was in a kitchen and used breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a jet to tackle the blaze.
A spokesman for the service said: "A two storey detached property, front room severely damaged by fire extinguished using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one jet and a thermal image camera.
"One adult was suffering from smoke inhalation."
