Angling: Mike Izzard catches heaviest first of the week

Creedy Lakes Mike Izzard caught the heaviest fish of the week at Creedy Lakes, with a 24lbs 2oz common carp. Izzard also landed three more fish that session and five commons during another, including one of 19lbs 8oz. Jack Palmer had a big catch as he landed a 24lbs 1oz common. He fished with his home-made boilies on the left-hand bank. Uffculme angler Jonathan Soanes landed a 21-pounder, while Aaron Fisher bagged two nice commons, including a carp which scaled 20lbs 8oz. Tiverton's Andy Stone landed a common carp at 20lbs 12oz, while Exeter's Steve Holdsworth hooked five fish, including a specimen of 16lbs. Tony Kingsley had three double-figure catches with the best weighing 19lbs 6oz, while Exeter's Vince Conibere landed a nice 17lbs common. Bellbrook Fishery Cullompton's Perry Bamonte won the Christmas fish-off, with six fish coming in at 20lbs 9oz. Second went to Ian Nadin – also of Cullompton – with five fish at 17lbs 8oz, while Exmouth's John Gilmore came third. Bradninch angler Glenn Roberts took the Rover Classic on his first visit to Bellbrook with two fish. John Carpenter of Exeter caught five fish for 12lbs 4oz.
