Exwick local councillor, Rob Hannaford is warning drivers to keep their speeds down as he has heard that the neighbourhood police team is planning to be out and about with speed guns. Cllr Hannford said: "Speeding and dangerous driving around Exwick at hotspots such as Exwick Road, St Andrew's Road, Gloucester Road, Kinnerton Way and Redhills is unfortunately a perennial problem and, as such, remains permanently on the Exwick ward's police community priority list. "The public sector cuts that have effected the police authority in no small measure, have definitely impacted on how much work on this can now be done in the context of other competing areas such as drug enforcement, or tackling serious anti social behaviour. "However our local police team in Exwick are working hard to do their best to get out and evaluate vehicles along the roads highlighted. "Recently another spate of speed checks were done along Exwick Road and Redhills and, of the 74 vehicles which came past, only 6 were travelling above 30mph, although this might not be an accurate reflection of daily speeds because of the high visibility presence, hopefully this may act as a deterrent. "I also understand that the officers will be out again soon in Exwick so keep your eyes peeled and speeds down."
