A man accused of causing a disturbance at a seaside tea shop has been declared unfit to plead.
Neil Blom, aged 34, appeared at Exeter Crown Court flanked by psychiatric nurses and Judge Phillip Wassall was told that two psychiatrists had examined him.
They both considered him unfit to plead. This means the evidence will be heard by a jury who will have to decide if he committed the acts alleged against him.
Blom is accused of assaults, affray and criminal damage relating to a series of incidents near Lee Bay in June.
Some of the offences allegedly took place at a tea shop near Lynton, at the Lee Abbey Christian Fellowship, Martinhoe and Woody Bay.
Blom, of Parracombe, North Devon, is charged with two assaults causing actual bodily harm, two assaults by beating, affray, and damaging a car.
Judge Phillip Wassall adjourned the case to allow the prosecution to review their position and remanded Blom to a psychiatric unit in Northampton.
