THE behaviour of students at this year's Freshers' Week came under the spotlight at a meeting attended by local councillors, residents' representatives and officials from the University and the Students Guild.
Its main purpose was to discuss the reasons for the increased student noise at Freshers' this year.
It was agreed that this was likely to have been due to a number of factors, one being the increased number of students now resident in the area in purpose-built blocks.
Options for improving the situation in the future were discussed and action points agreed upon.
Local councillor Keith Owen said: "It was a useful meeting and will be followed up by a further one early in the New Year.
"In addition, the Exeter Board, which is comprised of both county and city councillors, has highlighted the university and its place in Exeter as being an important subject to focus on."
