A motorcyclist has suffered serious, life-changing leg injuries in a collision with a lorry near Powderham.
Roads were closed for more than five hours last night after the crash on the A379 in Kenton near the Powderham turn off.
The male biker was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after a head-on collision involving a Sainsbury's lorry.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash. It is understood two motorcycles were following each other and one was overtaking shortly before hitting the oncoming Sainsbury's lorry.
Anybody with information is asked to phone the police non-emergency 101 number and quote log number 523 of October 10, 2014.
Air ambulance crews and police were called to the scene of the collision at shortly after 4pm. The road was blocked both ways until after 9pm.
Emergency services were called to the scene between Red Lodge and Swans Nest roundabout.
A police spokesman said there were substantial tailbacks in both directions: "There was a head-on collision between a motorcyclist and an HGV. The motorcyclist has suffered a serious leg injury."
The injury was later described as life-changing.
