Paul Tisdale will be hoping it is sixth-time lucky when the manager of the month awards are announced on Friday. Tisdale, who guided the Grecians to three wins and a draw in the month of September, has been nominated for the League Two accolade. It is the sixth time he has been nominated for such an award, but on the previous five occasions he has ended up empty handed. He will be in with a good chance of winning this time though after managing to turnaround City's dismal start to the season. The Grecians failed to win any of their opening seven games of the campaign but, having battled against a transfer embargo and injuries in August, Tisdale has lifted City off the foot of the table with some excellent performances against Cambridge United, Tranmere Rovers and Bury. Tisdale is up against strong competition though – mainly from Wycombe Wanderers' Gareth Ainsworth. Ainsworth has led his side to two draws and three wins from their five games in September, which is made all the more remarkable by the fact that Wycombe on survived relegation from the Football League on the final day of last season. They have lost just once this season and sit a point off league leaders Bury. David Flitcroft, whose Bury side lost at Exeter City in September, and Southend United's Phil Brown have also been nominated, but are outsiders for the award.
