Southwest beer and burger chain Hubbox is planning to open a new restaurant in Plymouth. The popular restaurant will open in Plymouth this year. The business, which already has pop-up restaurant outlets in Truro and Exeter, was launched as The Hub in St Ives in 2003, using local Cornish produce to make New York style hot dogs and burgers. That winning formula led to the launch of a pop-up restaurant, Hubbox, which was established in Truro in 2011. The Truro HQ opened up in what was once a 30ft shipping container, converted into a mini-restaurant for 20 people. The container moved earlier this year into a permanent home in a Grade II listed former chapel in the city's Kenwyn Street. The Hubbox has also opened another restaurant in Exeter's Sidwell Street. Hubbox Exeter serves burgers made from Cornish rare breed beef, a range of local seafood and seasonal specials. Burgers on the menu include the Big Kahuna, two 4oz burgers, bbq sauce, pulled pork, Swiss cheese and onion rings and the Bella, homemade falafel, sweet chilli jam, charred corn and avocado salsa. The expanding chain is dubbed as one of the best places to get grilled food in the South West. Earlier this year the Exeter branch was named as the ninth best burger restaurant in the country by TripAdvisor. A TripAdvisor reviewer said, "I've eaten many many burgers and have not found anywhere in the UK which gets anywhere close to the kind of quality you get from American burgers until now."
