A man suffered head injuries in a car crash near Exeter on Sunday.
Emergency services were sent to the scene of the accident, at West Bere, near Dunsford, shortly before 6pm.
Police officers informed the fire service of a car on its roof which was smoking.
Two fire appliances - one from Exeter and another from Ashburton that was already in the area - were sent to the incident.
On arrival of the first fire appliance, the officer in charge confirmed there was one car on its roof on the road.
No one was trapped in the vehicle but a man had sustained head injuries.
Fire crews used oxygen therapy until an ambulance arrived and paramedics continued to care for the casualty.
