Queen Elizabeth's Barnfield Campus Hall was bursting with proud parents, carers, friends and teachers to watch the Crediton college's annual celebration evening.
Over 170 awards were given to a wide range of young people for their outstanding efforts and excellent achievements during the last academic year.
Awards were given in English, Expressive Arts, Modern Foreign Languages, PE, Library, Maths, ICT, Technology, Science and Humanities to students who had impressed their teachers in a variety of ways.
William Keenor, who is currently in Year 8, received two awards for 'Excellent progress in Year 7 English' and 'Outstanding enthusiasm, motivation and willingness to learn in Languages'.
Elizabeth McCracken, who completed her GCSEs in the summer, received an award for 'Highest achievement in GCSE Media Studies'.
Jack Baxter, who completed his A-Levels in the summer, received an award for 'Outstanding contribution to A-Level Law'.
Special awards were awarded to Molly McCarthy and John Gray, who were the College's highest academic achievers in Year 11, and Anju Gaston and Nathanael Alcock, who were the highest academic achievers in Year 13.
Guests were amused throughout the evening by a number of engaging student performances.
Joe Cookson, 18, lifted the audience with his solo trumpet performance of 'Red, White and Blues' whilst Queen Elizabeth's music teacher Lucy Welsman engaged them with an overview of QE's unique Enrichment Week.
James Mitchell, 16, impressed all with his solo trombone performance of 'The Acrobat' and Alana Marshall, 15, and Toby Moran Mylett, 15, entertained them with an excerpt from Shakespeare's The Tempest.
Inspirational words of personal experiences from QE were given by Shaun Stanbury, ex-student and current Science teacher, and Anju Gaston, who has just completed her A-Levels and is about to head to Cambridge University. Both spoke of how QE was a friendly, supportive and helpful school, which gave them a good starting point in life and the opportunities to develop their skills.
Rupert Poole, new Principal of QE, said: "I am immensely proud of the students that have been given awards this evening; it has been great to see them collecting their awards and to take the opportunity to formally congratulate them. We know that their achievements have come about after many hours of hard work and dedication. I was also struck by the strong sense of community that came across throughout the evening."
The trustees of the Queen Elizabeth's Educational Foundation donated the prizes for the evening of celebration. Year 11 BTEC food technology students prepared and served refreshments.
