Exeter parade to mark Battle of Britain anniversary

Air Cadets from across Devon and Somerset Wing will come together in Exeter on Sunday, September 21, to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Britain 74 years ago. They will be joined by H.M Deputy Lieutenant for Devon and former First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Mark Stanhope and Lord Mayor of Exeter Percy Prowse, as well as members of the Royal Air Force Association. A service of thanksgiving will be held at Southernhay United Reformed Church, starting at 3pm, which members of the public are welcome to attend. Following the service there will a parade through the city centre with the salute being taken by the Deputy Lieutenant for Devon and the Lord Mayor of Exeter outside the Guildhall. The parade will end at the County War Memorial on the Cathedral Green, where there be an act of remembrance. The parade will depart Southernhay Church at 3.45pm, moving into Paris Street, turning into High Street then South Street and immediately onto Cathedral Green, arriving at around 4pm.
