A prison visitor has admitted trying to smuggle heroin to an inmate after he was intercepted by warders. Gary Leggett was allegedly put under pressure to try to get the drugs to a man who was being held at Exeter Prison in October last year. He now faces a possible jail term of his own after a judge ordered a pre sentence report from the probation service and warned him all options are open. Leggett, aged 34, of Vinstone Road, Plymouth, admitted possession of heroin with intent to supply at the prison on October 4 last year when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court. Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, adjourned sentence and told him:"I shall order a pre sentence report and renew your bail until the next hearing when all options will be open, including custody." Mr Nick Lewin, defending, said:"He was first stopped going into the prison when he was going to supply another man inside the prison with a small amount. His case is that there was an element of coercion."
