THE driver of a coach which crashed, leaving two people dead and several others seriously injured, has been rebailed by police. The 58-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the incident on the A387 between Widegates and Morval on the afternoon of May 13. The Carmel Coaches bus, which was taking 50 elderly people from Exmouth on a day trip to Looe, is believed to have struck a hedge before coming to rest against a wall. The incident resulted in two of the passengers – Margaret Luxton, 59, from Exmouth, and Carol Muldoon, 68, from Newton Poppleford – losing their lives and many others suffering serious injuries. Emergency crews were at the scene throughout that afternoon as casualties were airlifted to Derriford Hospital with help from search and rescue helicopters. The Herald later learned the firm had recently been investigated by the Government's Driver and Vehicles Standards Agency (DVSA). The 58-year-old driver from Exeter answered his bail yesterday and was rebailed to November 3 pending further inquiries
