Italian restaurant chain Strada will close in Exeter next month, it has been confirmed today.
A representative of the company said that the restaurant will close next month.
Around 10 staff are believed to be employed at the premises in Princesshay.
A source close to the restaurant said: "The staff were given notice of redundancy this week. It will be closing in the first week of September.
"They are understandably very upset. They are a mostly young crew there and the majority have worked there a long time.
"Each time I have been in there they have been very efficient and polite."
John Harvey, Exeter city centre manager, said: "Although I am disappointed to see Strada go, it is an extremely high profile unit that trades extremely well and I am very confident that a new and exciting brand will join the line up in the near future."
Strada was one of the first restaurants in the Princesshay development when it re-opened in 2007. At the time it was the brand's first outlet in the South West.
The company said they will vacate the glass pavilion building in Bedford Street in September.
