A dirty dancer was arrested by police after a stand-off which started when he was thrown out of a party because of his lewd behaviour.
Darren Goff held police at bay with a knife and was only seized after two different officers used their Captor sprays to subdue him.
Goff, aged 37, armed himself with a knife and stood in the middle of Pinhoe Road in Exeter after an altercation at a party in nearby Lloyds Crescent where he was ejected because his dirty dancing became too extreme.
During the stand-off with police he threatened to stab officers and even to bite a police dog which was brought to try to control him.
Goff, of Whipton Village Road, Exeter, admitted affray and having a knife in a public place and was jailed for six months, suspended for two years and ordered to go an alcohol awareness programme by Judge Francis Gilbert, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.
He told him:"This case passes the custody threshold because you were in possession of a lock knife but in all the circumstances I am willing to suspend the sentence."
Miss Janice Eagles, prosecuting, said the incident started on the evening of February 18 when Goff went to a friend's house in Whipton.
She said:"He consumed a large amount of vodka and began dirty dancing but he then proceeded to do an act which was not considered appropriate and he left.
"There was an argument afterwards and police were called when he was seen to be acting in a volatile and aggressive manner in Pinhoe Road."
He threatened officers with a knife and remained aggressive even after a police dog was called. He was only arrested after two attempts to subdue him with Captor spray.
Mr Robert Linford, defending, said Goff suffers from a form of epilepsy which cannot be treated by drugs and his neurological condition is affected if he drinks.
He said:"He is anxious to address his problems. He has fixed accommodation and support from his family who live in the area."
