A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Exeter.
The suspect has not been charged and is currently awaiting questioning at Heavitree Road Police Station.
Meanwhile a member of the public has been praised for saving the life of the victim before the ambulance arrived.
Police were called to RCM store on the corner of Thurlow Road and Pinhoe Road, Exeter at 7:30pm last night. Following an alleged altercation between two men, one man, aged in his 40s was stabbed in the neck.
He was taken to the R D & E Hospital for treatment where he remains today.
One witness said she was the scene a few minutes after last night's stabbing.
She praised the actions of one member of the public who she said played a really big role in potentially saving the victim's life.
She said: "He was holding the wound on his neck to stop the bleeding until the ambulance arrived. I thought he deserves a mention as he reacted in such an admirable way and was so modest about it all."
