PEOPLE in Lympstone have spoken of their sadness after the body of a 34-year-old woman was found on rocks at the foot of cliffs near the harbour.
The woman, who is understood to be from Lympstone, was found at around 7.50pm on Monday, July 29, on rocks near Darling's Rock. She was discovered by children and joggers, who raised the alarm.
The ambulance service informed the police and Portland Coastguard, who tasked Exmouth coastguards to attend.
An Exmouth RNLI crew also assisted police and paramedics with the incident. The woman's next-of-kin have been informed.
Police are carrying out a routine investigation on behalf of the coroner but are not treating her death as suspicious.
The woman's body was initially taken to Exmouth Lifeboat Station. A coastguard helicopter was also sent to the scene but was stood down.
Parish councillor Pete Acca said: "This is very tragic news. She was the same age as my children which makes it hit home a bit harder. My condolences go to her family at this sad time."
