WHEN a groom who is undergoing treatment for cancer and his fiancee asked for help with their wedding, their wish came true.
On their behalf, The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation asked Michael Spiers Jewellers to donate wedding rings and the Exeter branch stepped in with two gold bands.
Peter Fanthorpe and his fiancée Charlotte Bowman were chosen, after Peter's mother secretly contacted the foundation last November when Peter was undergoing extensive treatment for testicular cancer in hospital. Peter, a law student, and Charlotte, a midwife, married on Saturday, April 20 at St Peter's Church, Chailey in East Sussex.
Anthony Wilson from the Exeter Branch of Michael Spiers Jewellers said: "We are in the business of happy occasions – and being asked to donate wedding rings to Peter and Charlotte was the very least we could do to contribute towards their special day."
The Wedding Wishing Well Foundation, based in Somerset, was founded last year and fulfils the wedding dreams of terminally ill people who long to marry their partners. They assist with everything from seeking funding from businesses, to planning the big day itself.
Naomi Thomas, founder of the foundation said: "We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Michael Spiers Jewellers for donating two beautiful bands to a very special couple. We are always overwhelmed by the generosity shown by businesses in our quest to make wishes come true."
