Plymouth's Olympic heroes Heather Fell, Antony James, Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow sounded the klaxon. Ronnie Haynes, a civil servant from Plymouth, hopes to have broken the Guinness World Record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a vegetable, with a time of 85 minutes, 59 seconds, beating the current official record of 97 minutes 21 seconds. Ronnie was raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association. Organisers GO2 were delighted with the turn out and the inspirational crowd support shown by Plymouth residents. Race organiser Amy Budd, said: "Congratulations to each and every runner who crossed the line. People were running for lots of reasons, to get fit, to raise money for charity, in memory of a loved one or a training run for a marathon. The race had a lovely atmosphere - as always, Plymouth did itself proud." Pre-registration is now open for next year's race at www.plymouthhalfmarathon.com. Runners can sign up to be first to hear about an early bird offer and be contacted when entries open.
