A collision between a Waitrose lorry and a van closed two lanes of the M5 near Cullompton this morning.
Police and fire crews were called to the crash at 6:30am one mile before junction 28 south-bound.
A green Waitrose DAF HGV collided with a white Mercedes Sprinter box van.
The crash caused the Mercedes van to smash into the central reservation of the M5, said police.
Two lanes were closed with slow traffic on the M5 southbound between J27, A361 (Tiverton) and J28, A373 (Cullompton Services), because of the accident.
One male driver suffered a minor cut to his hand and was summoned for driving without due care and attention.
Lane two of the motorway was reopened at 7:25am.
Police say the road was covered in debris from the collision and the Highways Agency were called.
All lanes were cleared and reopened at 7:40am.
