Woman trapped between wall and car in crash on Heavitree Road taken to Exeter hospital

The Fire, Police and Ambulance service were called to the scene of a collision in Exeter today which left one woman trapped between a car and a wall on Heavitree Road in Exeter. The Fire, Police and Ambulance service attended the scene opposite Pyramids Swimming Centre which left one pedestrian in a 'serious condition' at midday today. On arrival the crews confirmed that there were two persons trapped in a blue Honda car and one person trapped against the wall by the car. The female person trapped against the wall was released by the crews and taken to hospital by land ambulance.  An additional ambulance was requested as a passer-by who assisted with the casualty was suffering from shock. He was treated by the fire service crews using a MARS resuscitator.  The fire service freed an elderly man and woman from the Honda after removing the roof of the vehicle. The female passenger sustained a broken arm and was taken to hospital. The male driver was uninjured. Heavitree Road in Exeter was closed, with delays both ways between Western Way junction and Gladstone Road junctions, because of the accident.Video from scene of the collision:
The road was closed at the bottom of Paris Street and Gladstone Road. The scene remains closed although Gladstone Road reopened at 2.30pm. Officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Team have begun a detailed investigation and are carrying out work at the scene. Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting reference 251 of 28/03/13.
