A lollipop patroller is urgently needed for Alphington Primary School.
This is a paid position with money set aside for the post by Devon County Council.
Councillor Margaret Clark said: "As a local ward councillor I know that parking around the entrance to Alphington Primary School is limited for parents who drive their children to school and irresponsible parking has been a safety issue for some time.
"I have now looked into the funding for a lollipop person to assist children using the pedestrian crossing to walk to school.
"I feel that if parents knew the crossing was manned it could reduce the number of children being driven to school and lower the risk of accidents near the entrance."
