Electricity and phone companies had to be called out this morning after cables were damaged by a coach fire in a Devon village street.
The coach was severely damaged by the fire and there was also superficial damage to two properties near the blaze in the main road through Highhampton.
Fire crews from Hatherleigh and Holsworthy attended after a number of calls from the public. On arrival they found one coach well alight and an electricity pole and cable also involved in fire. Crews used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
Western Power Distribution and BT were requested as cables were damaged by fire. The cause of the fire was accidental
