THERE will be a heavy police presence in Exeter today for the Devon derby between Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle.
The all-ticket match kicks off at 1pm at St James Park and Devon and Cornwall police have said that there will be extra police support in attendance to help ensure it all goes smoothly.
Superintendent Craig Downham said: "Whilst our officers will be visible as part of our policing of the match, this is not cause for alarm. We are operating a low-key approach to policing this game and as ever we are looking at engaging with all the public, whether they are football fans or shoppers, in a friendly manner."
Additional officers will be out and about in the build up, during and post match. There will also be support available from the dog and mounted police units.
Supt Downham added: "It is an all-ticket match and we remind Plymouth fans that if you do not have a ticket you will be turned away at the ground."
According to Exeter City ticket sales have been strong.
