FINGLE GLEN
Fingle Glen had Sandy Urquhart to thank for coming up trumps on the 19th to help them beat Okehampton in their Mail on Sunday first round clash.
Snow on the ground at the start of the month at Okehampton meant the match was moved to Fingle, whose team of Luke Burchell, Joe Baker, Andy Rogers, Jamie Hoskins and Urquhart drew 2.5-2.5 after 18 holes before the latter produced the goods.
Bob Harris, Peter Hatch, Colin Vincent and Steve Medway won the seniors' yellow ball competition, with Dave Flint, Brian Ridgeway and Roger Annis in second.
Roy Webber with Derek Govier, Allan Jones, Charles Wray and Gordon Bird came third.
Guy Hoskins and Sam Holmes scored 60 points to win Tuesday's 6-6-6 competition.

Chair of greens Mark Thomas and his team of Moray Bosence and Jim Anderton emerged victorious in Sunday's Texas scramble.
Their score of 56.5 was 9.5 better than par, with Bosence also winning the nearest the pin on the fifth hole.
Club manager Jonathan Lee and his team of Bob Skelly and Steve Channing came second, scoring 56.9.
In third place were Graham Rogers, Paul Shoobridge and Malcolm Smith with 57.6. Ron Gandy won nearest the pin on the 15th.
Stuart Ruffle and Geoff Lory won the club's fourball better ball competition with 48 points.
Playing on temporary greens due to the bad weather, a hole in one from Lory on the 15th helped them fend off the challenge of second-placed Moray Bosence and Jim Anderton, who also scored 48.
David Burgess and Graham Davies also managed 48 points for third place.
OKEHAMPTON
Matt Mills and Steve Peake won Saturday's fourball better ball Stableford on a countback with a score of 44 points.

In third place with 43 points were Chris Hurley and Martyn Cox, who also needed a countback to force Reg Prescott and Kevin Perryman into fourth.
Division two was won by David Grimes and Bryan Evans with 43 points, closely followed by Paul Rogers and Russell Bowden (42).
Yet another countback was required for third place, which went to Dave and Sue Stanbury, with Graham Pengelly and John Latham in fourth after both teams had scored 40 points.
