The Prime Minister David Cameron has spoken of his shock at the flooding which has hit Exeter and the rest of Devon and promised to "ensure everything is being done to help" after an Exeter woman died in the chaos.
The woman, believed to be in her 20's, became the second victim to die as a result of the terrible weather.
She was killed on a patch of land off Western Way, in the city centre, last night when she was trapped under a fallen spruce tree which injured two others.
A group of hoemless people are known to have been sleeping rough in tents in the area for some time.
Mr Cameron said on Twitter: "Shocking scenes of flooding. Govt will help ensure everything is being done to help."
He made the comment as the weather appeared to improve but as the Environment Agency continued to issue flood warnings.
