Debut goals from Hussein Heidari and Tony Lee helped Tiverton Town end their 10-game winless run with a fine win over Wimborne Town on Saturday at Ladysmead.
Goals in either half from the debutants, plus a Tom Gardner header off a corner, saw the Yellows register a deserved victory.
The only blot on the copybook was Owen Howe's late dismissal for violent conduct –his third red this season for the same offence.
Talk before kick-off was dominated by the acquisitions of Exeter City youth product Heidari and striker Lee – both of whom arrived from Conference Premier side Eastleigh on loan on Friday.
And it took less than 10 minutes for defender Heidari to break the deadlock as he volleyed home from close range.
Wimborne forced a couple of openings as they gradually took control of the first half, but they could not convert their chances into goals.
And they were punished in the second half as fellow new boy Lee finished off a superb team move.
Gardner hung in the air to head home off a corner to round off the scoring, only for Howe to dampen the mood by leading with his head in an altercation with just a few minutes remaining to earn an early bath.
Nevertheless, it was a welcome win for the Yellows – whose last success came on November 22 – and sets them up well for Tuesday's trip to Bishops Cleeve.Tiverton Town: Wright, Wannell, Faux, Bye, Weeks (Goss, 73), Gardner, Hinds (Western, 68), Richards, Howe, Lee (Mudge, 77), Heidari.
