A man has appeared before Exeter magistrates charged with the murder of 36-year-old mother-of-three Sophie McDonald.
James McDonald, 36, appeared at Exeter Magistrates Court on Saturday morning charged with murdering Sophie on Thursday, January 29, in Dawlish.
McDonald, who is understood to be Sophie's estranged husband, spoke only to confirm his name.
His address was given as Flat 1, Iddesleigh Terrace, Dawlish - the address where Sophie's body was found.
No pleas were entered and McDonald was remanded in custody.
He will appear at Exeter Crown Court on Tuesday, February 3, via videolink.
A preliminary hearing has also been set for Thursday, February 26, at the crown court.
