Residents in Dawlish were stunned to see a striking new graffiti artwork appear in the town over the weekend - and think it may be a Banksy. Works by the acclaimed street artist have randomly appeared at locations across the UK for years. And when they are authenticated they can sell for millions to private collectors. Residents in Dawlish spotted the Banksy-style graffiti at the Kennaway railway tunnel in the town at the weekend. The striking black and white stencil image, which is clearly in the style of Banksy, shows a young boy holding a catapult. Gina Kennedy, who took these pictures, said: "I was in Dawlish this weekend when I overheard some people talking excitedly about some new graffiti that had appeared between Friday evening and Saturday morning on the Kennaway railway tunnel. "My ears really pricked up when the name Banksy was used. Rudely breaking into their conversation, I asked a few questions and quickly established where the artwork was and why they believe it's a Banksy." She added: "Although it isn't signed with his tag, he has recently taken to not tagging his work in order to prevent it from being stolen. "And, having seen the artwork myself, it does look remarkably like a Banksy piece. "If it does prove to be a Banksy piece, what wonderful news for Dawlish when they're still recovering from the effect of last winter's storms."
