One man has been charged with rape following a raid on an Exeter home over the weekend. Aleksandr Pronko, 27, has been charged and is set to appear in Exeter Magistrates' Court later today. Five other men have been released by police with no further action. The six men were originally arrested on suspicion of sexual assault at the home on Kings Road, Polsloe after a 12 hour police operation. Seven police cars were seen on the road from 11pm on Saturday until 11am on Sunday. Police said they were called to a property in Kings Road, Exeter just after 11am on Sunday 11th January after concern was raised for the welfare of a woman in the property. Officers attended the address and found a woman in the house along with a number of men. The woman was cared for by local officers. Residents in the area said the incident went through the night with the police dog unit also being called to the scene. A letter was also posted through the doors of those who live in the area on Sunday morning reading: "Police officers are undertaking house to house enquiries in this area and wish to ascertain if you saw, heard or are aware of anything suspicious or unusual which occurred between 11pm on Saturday and 11am on Sunday in the kings road area" Devon and Cornwall Police's DI Sally Crabtree said at the time: "This investigation is at a very early stage and the full circumstances of the incident are not yet known . It will take officers some time to speak to all those involved including witnesses and the victim to assess what has taken place and what action police need to take."
