One of Exeter's busiest shops was evacuated today amid fears of a basement fire.
Staff have been evacuated from Tesco Metro, Chaucers pub and Sports Direct on The high Street.
The fire service said they are investigating a strong smell of smoke that has been reported at the bottom of the store.
Staff have been evacuated as a precaution.
One witness said Tesco and Chaucers have been cordoned off and a fire hose is stretched across Queen Street.
The fire service are at the scene and investigating the incident.
