TRANSPORT schemes worth millions of pounds are proposed for Exeter in a new report.
The draft Transport Infrastructure Plan covers the next 16 years.
It reveals a new £2m footbridge over the A379 which will link the new homes to be built in the south west of Exeter at Alphington with those proposed in Teignbridge.
Due to be completed in 2018, the bridge is to have level access so that it is suitable for wheelchair, cyclists and parents with prams.
And £4m is to be spent on improving the A379 junction in the same area, although there is no delivery date for this scheme and the funding has yet to be secured.
There is also the £6m phase two of the Tithebarn link road, linking Tithebarn Bridge to Blackhorse, also to be completed in 2018.
Another £1.5m is to be spent putting a pedestrian/cycleway alongside the existing Tithebarn Lane bridge. This scheme is due to be completed in 2016/17 although in this instance the funding has yet to be secured.
The county council is planning to complete the Exhibition Way link road in Exeter by 2016/17 in a bid to ease congestion on Pinhoe's double mini roundabouts.
Funding has been secured through planning agreements to extend the bus priority lanes on Topsham Road. The cost is to be £500,000.
Schemes due to be delivered by March this year 2015 include the £3.6m train station at Cranbrook, phase one of the Tithebarn Link road which has a price tag of £3.4m and the £900,000 scheme to widen the southbound off-slip at the M5's junction 30.
And funding has been secured for the widening of Bridge Road. The work, which has a price tag of £11m, is due to be completed in 2016.
The county council is also still intending to provide a £6m park and ride at Ide and bus priority measures.
A planning application for a 790-car park and ride site at the Ide interchange was thrown out by councillors in December 2009.
Objections were made on the grounds that the scheme was in the wrong place, it would not help reduce congestion and the site was a conservation area.
The county council is also hoping to find funding of £10m to improve strategic walking and cycling routes in Exeter, connecting major growth areas.
