Saturday will see Exeter Chiefs play their 100th game in the Aviva Premiership – and it's a nice symmetry that they do so by hosting Gloucester, as they did in their first.
The stats make for fairly pleasant reading as, whatever the result at the weekend, the Chiefs will have won more league games than they have lost in that time.
That milestone seems like a good time to take a step back and see how far the club have come in the last four years and four months.
Few would have predicted they would make the strides they have to date, both on and off the field.
One of the few clubs in the top flight to return a profit, Exeter have ruffled a few feathers at home and abroad as they have rubbed shoulders with the best that England and Europe can offer.
The squad has got stronger year on year, and the transition is being made from the core of players who saw them promoted from the Championship to a younger group, with more talented and experienced players brought in to add to the mix.
The rewards are being shown this season, with the club enjoying their best position at the halfway stage of the league campaign and also being in contention in both cup competitions.
Comparing them with Gloucester is also quite interesting, with the Kingsholm outfit on their third director of rugby in that time, having spent untold amounts on recruiting stars to try to resurrect the fortunes of one of the grand old names of English rugby.
Twice the Chiefs have finished above the Cherry & Whites, and they are currently five places and 12 points better off than Gloucester.
The familiarity in the Chiefs' ranks – with coaches as well as players – has served them well and is a credit to all concerned.
That includes Haydn Thomas, who is on the verge of making his 200th competitive appearance for the Chiefs.
The scrum-half is officially in his third spell with the club – although the second saw him sit on the bench as an unused replacement just once – and has gone from being a university student trying to break into the team to an experienced Premiership campaigner.
If he and the Chiefs can celebrate the club's 100th Premiership match the way they did their first – with a win against Gloucester – it would be a great way to start 2015.
