Exeter Chiefs' winless run against Bath in the league continued as they went down to a defeat at The Rec this afternoon.
The match pitted the sides second and third in the Aviva Premiership against each other in front of a capacity crowd and it was the home side that prevailed again.
Matt Jess crossed for the visitors before Horacio Agulla and Kyle Eastmond dotted down for Bath before the break.
Jack Nowell and Dave Attwood crossed the line in the second half before Anthony Watson secured maximum points with a late try.
The Chiefs opened the scoring in the 24th as skipper Dean Mumm picked up after Dom Day dropped the ball and offloaded to Jess, who raced in from 50 metres out and Gareth Steenson added the extras.
Agulla got a try back after Bath created space on the right wing and Eastmond finished off after Chris Cook's break and pass, with Ford converting both to lead 14-7 at half-time.
Exeter were level five minutes after the re-start as Sam Hill picked up after Ford's pass hit Steenson's back. He kicked ahead passed Agulla but Nowell won the race to dot down in the right corner and the fly-half added the extra two points.
Bath regained the lead after 51 minutes as the forwards drove over the whitewash from a line-out, with Attwood dotted down.
Ford converted and then landed a penalty in the 60th minute to stretch his side's lead to 24-14 before replacement Mitch Lees was sent to the sin bin with 10 minutes left on the clock.
With the visitors sacrificing Jess to get an eighth forward on the pitch, Bath wrapped up the win with three minutes left on the clock as Watson ran in their fourth try to secure a bonus point to boot. Ford added the extras.Exeter Chiefs scorers: tries – Jess, Nowell; cons – Steenson (2)Bath scorers: tries – Agulla, Eastmond, Attwood, Watson; cons – Ford (4); pen – FordReferee: JP Doyle
