THE city council has yet to decide whether to grant planning permission for eight six-metre-high floodlights around the perimeter of the skatepark in Flowerpot playing fields.
The issue is currently out for consultation and has attracted one objection and several letters of support.
The scheme's supporters say that it would allow for the skatepark to be used more frequently, particularly in the winter months, and would also make the area safer for those walking there.
The objector believes that the lights would bleach out the view of the "beautiful row of poplar trees".
