CITY POSTBAG: Why aren't Tisdale critics eating humble pie?

I would like to add my support to some of Jon Smith's very salient comments in last week's Express and Echo. I certainly agree with the point that our management team and players deserve huge credit for turning our season round from the dark days of early September. At the time, Paul Tisdale made it clear that (for a number of reasons) we were behind schedule and would not get into our stride until the second half of September, and this is exactly what happened With reference to the petition calling for Tis to be sacked, it is not for me to comment on its validity. Suffice to say, there were personal criticisms, which did the campaign no credit whatsoever. Admittedly, at the time, we were at the bottom of League Two and this was on the back of less than impressive home form for three years. However, with our manager's superb track record in his early years, it frankly surprises me that some of the critics haven't come out and eaten humble pie. What is absolutely clear is that, with Tis at the helm, we will continue to achieve our minimum target, which is to remain in the Football League and spend more time looking up rather than over our shoulder! It is also no coincidence that, under his tutelage, we have had an impressive production line of home grown talent, which has not only gone on to play in the first team, but some have moved up the ladder, bringing in much needed revenue to the club. This has also been in an environment, where money is tight at the best of times! So, it is time that more of us came out and gave credit where it is due! Giles Ashman Alphington, Exeter I was disappointed to read Steve Lee's letter in which he felt that they (ECFC) "rip the fans off every week," with their hospitality package. Steve was a guest at one of the Senior Reds lunches held three times during the season and as chair of the group, sitting a few metres away from him, I feel disappointed that he did not express his dissatisfaction to me. I can assure your readers that everyone, except Steve it would seem, enjoyed the good and convivial atmosphere always present on match days in the hospitality suites. I can only assume that totally unrelated circumstances could have prompted these disappointing criticisms of the excellent hospitality package offered every week at Exeter City Football Club.
