Footballer and convicted rapist Ched Evans could be set to line up against Exeter City next month for a new club - whose manager wants to sign him despite his rape conviction.
Evans, 25, was released from prison in October after serving half his sentence.
He had been set to re-sign for Sheffield United but after a storm of publicity over the controversial move the club retracted their offer.
However, now Argyle's League Two rivals Hartlepool United could be set to take on the striker.
The club's manager Ronnie Moore has said he wants to sign Evans, who began his career at Manchester City.
Hartlepool, who have just been taken over by new owners, host Exeter on April 25.
Moore said of Evans: "He is a proven scorer - he's served his time and the boy wants to play football.
"If there is a chance he might come here, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't.
"He has made a mistake and maybe he hasn't apologised in the right way - and I know he has an appeal case pending - but if he gets on the park, he would go a long way to getting us out of trouble."
After the club's 1-1 draw with Oxford on Saturday, Moore, who took over as manager of the club this week, said of signing Evans: "If it could happen, I would want it to happen".
