Exeter City striker Tom Nichols has been nominated for the November League Two player-of-the-month award. Nichols, who has scored six goals in the last five league games, started last month on the bench for the Grecians shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Warrington Town. However, he battled his way back into the starting line-up for the match against Newport County and capped his performance by winning and scoring a first half penalty. He followed that up with a stunning performance against in-form Shrewsbury when he scored two second-half goals to help City comeback from two goals down to win the game 3-2. His injury-time header in that match showed great accuracy and composure to beat the Shrews keeper and two covering defenders on the line. His final goal of the month, in another 3-2 victory at Accrington, was a powerful strike from outside the area, which flew past the Stanley keeper and into the back of the net. Nichols is up against Southend United's David Worrall, Newport County striker Aaron O'Connor and Luton Town's Nathan Doyle for the award. The winner, chosen by the a panel from the Football League, is due to be announced on Friday.
