The form of goalkeeper Chris Wright was praised by Tiverton Town manager Martyn Rogers following his side's 0-0 draw with Yate Town on Saturday.
Wright produced five good saves to deny Lodge Road side victory, including an excellent stop from Ross Staley's free-kick early in the second half.
It was Wright's eighth clean sheet of the season and Rogers was not surprised with the performance his keeper put in.
"He pulled off four or five good quality saves, but is only what I expect of Chris," said Rogers. "He did his job to be fair. He has been playing well and he had a particularly good game on Saturday."
Tivvy have now gone five games unbeaten and conceded just three goals in that time.
Rogers has put their improved defensive record down to the fact that every member of his team work's hard to keep the opposition out.
"I'm delighted with the defence because you need to keep clean sheets," he said.
"If you do that you are going to win more games than you lose. I'm particularly pleased with how the team is defending, because it is not just the defenders. It is a collective thing and players are working hard and that is why we are getting results. Even the strikers have to work hard and defend and close down and we have done that really well."
Yate Town started the game well and had the better of the first half chances as Wright had to stop efforts from Jake Jackson and Jordan Rogers.
They then put Tiverton under immense pressure early in the second half as Staley's free-kick and another shot from distance forced saves from Wright.
Wright came to the Yellows rescue again when he saved a long-range shot from James Harmer, but it was the visitors who could have stolen the points late on when Owen Howe shot headed towards the back of the net. However, Mitch Tippins produced a stunning goal-line clearance to salvage a draw.
"It was an absolute brilliant, goal-line clearance from their fella and he think he dislocated his shoulder doing it," said Rogers. "It was a fantastic overhead kick. The ball was destined for the back of the net, but he got back and he has saved them from losing a point to be fair.
"I was delighted with the result though. It was a really tough game for us and you can see why they are fifth in the league.
"They put us under pressure, especially for the first 25 minutes of the second half, but I thought we weathered it brilliantly."
